Steve Jobs is the CEO of Apple Computer, a world renowned corporation in the computer industry. He co-founded Apple with Steve Wozniak in 1976 and has become a world-wide trendsetter for techonological advancement in computers. Not only does he lead an influential life in the computer market but he is also the Chairman and CEO of Pixar Animation Studios. Pixar is a famous indepent production company that prodeced films such as The Incredilbe as well as Toy Story. It is said that The Walt Disney Company is in agreement to purchase Pixar for an estimated $7.4 billion by the summer of 2006. Because of this transaction it will make Jobs the largest individual shareholder of Disney and will provide him with a position on the board of directors.
Apdoted by Paul and Clara Jobs, Steve grew up in Santa Clara County, California. It was at a job in high school at Hewlett-Packard Co. in Palo Alto, California that Jobs met co-founder Stephen Wozniak. Jobs then went on to Reed College where he dropped out after one semester.
He moved back to California and continued to maintain a relationship with Wozniak while working for Atari, a video game manufacturer. Jobs, the free spirited man, then moved to India for some time and return to Califonia a different and changed man. It was on April 1,1976, that Jobs and Woziniak founded Apple Computer Co. The company’s first vision was to sell and market a computer design and format that Wozniak had created for his own personal use. Their first computer sold for $666.66.
In 1980 Apple was a publically owned and shared company partly due to Jobs’ creative and outgoing personality. However, in 1985 because of some internal struggle Jobs left Apple to create his own NeXT Computer company. This computer design embodied Jobs’ personal need and desire for others to have an interpersonal computer and marketed it to an audience with advanced technological needs.
In 1992 the tables turned when Apple bought out NeXT for $402 million. This sent Jobs back to Apple, where he became the CEO that same year. His most recent contributions to Apple are the advancement of iPod, a new advancement in technological music
